Photography and filming policy.

TL;DR.

The club would like to take photos and record videos of any riders participating in club organised events, and use those photos and videos to advertise what the club does. If you do not feel comfortable with this and would rather you or your rider be excluded from any published records, you can let any member of the committee or the club’s welfare team know and they will ensure that your wishes are respected.

Even if you have previously granted permission, you have the right to rescind that permission at any time.

The longer version.

Hawks BMX Race Club places the welfare and safeguarding of its riders at the core of everything it does.

The club feels that it is important that its riders can celebrate in their success and that as part of that, they may want either photographic or video records of their achievements. And of course the club understands that it is just as desirable for those successes to be shared with others, often by sharing those items on social media.

Similarly, the club would like to join in the celebration of the achievements of its riders, and may also choose to record events by photographing them or videoing them. In so doing, it is understood that the club will also likely share those records using, but not limited to, outlets such as traditional media - newspapers, radio, television; social media; email and its website.

In order to adhere to its intentions to ensure the welfare and safeguarding of its riders, the club wants to ensure that its riders and their guardians have the right to be able to decide whether they are comfortable with such events being recorded, and for any media to be used in publicising the work that the club does.

To meet its intentions, at the point that someone signs up with the club, they are given the opportunity to opportunity to state whether they wish to be included in any media or not. Additionally, if the rider does grant permission and then later wishes to change that decision, there are published methods (such as the contact us page on this website) for someone to use to get in touch with the club to change their decision.
